As expected, Sophie Kinsella never ever disappoints me. It's a lovely book, funny with deep meaning. Hits you right in the head for a well-deserved reality check.
But y'know me and my post-reading-a-good-book-depression?
I know the whole point of the book is to not just see how perfect someone else's life can be, rather be thankful for our life since well, no one's life is perfect.
But I can't help envying Katie's relationship with her dad, I wish my dad loves me like that. I wish there's someone out there who cares for me that much. And then there's Buddy, a total sweetheart. A stepmother doesn't always have to be a bad one, but I guess those are the rare gems. And then of course there's Demeter - one with hard steel cold veneer but a warm apple pie on the inside.
And of course, Alex Astalis (I think I got that name right). Someone who loves me enough to fight for me. To see through all my vulnerabilities and insecurities and still think I'm not just all that. One who's manly enough to not chicken out and just be an asshole.
Sigh.
