I still remember when I was in my first sem, Kak Nadia (my naqibah) asked me if I'd be free for the weekend for this exact same programme. I was like "Errr busy la Kak, takde kat KTT weekend ni balik rumah." I'll find all types of excuses to escape from things like this.
Alhamdulillah, Allah has finally opened my eyes, my heart that I need this. There are still so many things that I don't know about my own religion. Joining ISK, I get to learn a number of new things.
My knowledge about Islam is very little, I'm very amazed when I found out about some of the things about our history. I can never feel more proud when the story about our Zaman Kegemilangan was told but also totally devastated about how Islam was vanished very easily from those beautiful Europian countries like Spain, Rome and all that.
It makes me realise where we are standing now. It's very heartbreaking to see what's happening to Muslims nowadays after what our ancestors had sacrificed for us. How they never stopped trying to spread this beautiful religion about our Most Merciful God, Allah. How they were tortured to death, but those things had no effects on them but increasing their imaan.
And what are we doing now? We even have to think twice or thrice or maybe a thousand times just to spend a few minutes on doing a deed. We know Islam, but we don't understand Islam. We know our body shape is an aurat, but we still go out with a shirt that reveals it, still go out with the tudung not covering the chest. We know mengumpat is a very sinful act, yet we can't help but talk about people around us, judge them by their appearance.
It's time for us to change, it's time for us to wake up and realise that we're not in a comfort zone despite living in a country with Islam as its official religion. Look around us and look what's happening to our sisters and brothers out there. Many Muslims know Islam, but very few that actually understands .
So what are we? Islam, or islam? Notice the capital and small letters, think.
A reminder for myself and us Muslims. Let's try to improve ourself day after day, minutes after minutes and be better as the clock ticks away. Inshallah. Assalamualaikum x
